Yes, I know they finally caught one (in addition to the much-decayed example that excited everyone some decades earlier.) The coelacanth was still prehistoric-- just persisting, much like some other successful species (especially the ones that have stayed well-hidden.)
Today's technique: bypass the obvious and oft-used word and go for stuff like a prehistoric fish!
ReplyDeleteheh. coelacanth (assuming that's what you're referring to) isn't prehistoric any more! but yeah, that would be an awesome GMW word.
