Welcome to the Guess My Word blog. This is a place to discuss the words of the day chosen by Joon and Mike. This paragraph is here mostly as spoiler space. Here are today's words:

mike's word: flatulence
joon's word: qualms

Discuss.

  1. I had forms of both words before I guessed the right ones: I came up with "qualm" and then spent five minutes trying to some up with a word between "qualm" and "quandary" besides "qualms," certain that the word wouldn't be the plural of a common singular. And I made five tries after "flatulent" before settling on "flatulence." Definitely not my day here at "Guess My Word"...

  2. I came right here after solving Joon's word. I was going to observe that four of the first five solvers went directly from qualm to qualms, and the top solver skipped qualm entirely. "Qualms" does not appear by itself as an entry in the first two dictionaries I checked (but I did see it in a phrase).

    Now I think I can guess Mike's word in 1! :-(

  3. I typed in 'qualm' and then thought, 'You hardly ever have just one,' so that did rather save me. Then in did the same thing as Lane, going elsewhere rather than trying another form. Tsk
Plus I had a lot of trouble typing today--kept missing the Q, so made lousy time.

  4. It would be interesting to know how many of those who guessed Mike's word with relatively few guesses are in the sixty-plus age group - besides me! No other comment necessary.... But I do love this game and hope to break a hundred if I live long enough. At one time that referred to eighteen holes of golf....

  5. i had "flatulent" 9 guesses before "flatulence". but i've never had occasion to use "qualm" in the singular. it doesn't seem like something you can have just one of. like a lays potato chip, maybe.
