I've discovered a 'tell' in the program. When you are zeroing in on the correct word, there is a hesitation while the program thinks it over and realizes you have the beginning but perhaps not the end. It's a wee advantage (although it did not help me that much with Mike's word, as I thought of way too many WICK- words.
as the person who wrote the program, i can assure you that this is not the case. if you notice it happening, it is probably coincidence. there is occasionally a slight delay in response time, but it is due to transient connection issues, not the program "thinking" about your guess.
however, i have noticed that when i play this game in real life, this exact phenomenon occurs: when you guess something quite close to the person's actual answer, it may take them a second or two to figure out whether it's before or after.
