Welcome to the Guess My Word blog. This is a place to discuss the words of the
day chosen by Joon and Mike. This paragraph is here mostly as spoiler space.
Here are today's words:
Hmmm. I'm betting a lot of other people tried piddle and then moved on (as I did). It might seem like the word piddling is more common, but I wonder about that. To 'piddle around' is something you'd hear just as often as 'piddling amount,' or whatever. Maybe not Up North?
Joon, you plainly misunderstood the thrust of my musing. I notice some did as I did--tried piddle and then advanced without trying other forms of the word. (The linguistic variants don't --to me-- count as different words, just different forms of the root.) When 'piddle' did not take, I jumped past before returning to that word and associated forms.

ReplyDeletei don't think it really matters which is more common; piddle (v) and piddling (adj) are different words. either one of them is a legit GMW answer.
DeleteFunny I tried piddly before either of them...
DeleteHand up for piddle before piddling.
ReplyDeleteNope--went for piddling first.
