I struggled for about a minute to find _any_ words between ostentatious and other. Turns out there are 101, almost half of them OSTEO- words. Then I hit on the right answer on my next guess.
@Danchall - I'm hoping you didn't just have to count words in the dictionary. Is there a reference that numbers words for a quick reference to the number between any two?
Joon told me that his word list comes from the official Scrabble Tournament Word List (TWL). He told me that the list could be found on this page (as well as elsewhere). http://www.isc.ro/en/commands/lists.html
I use a software package called Mathematica to manipulate the list, count and display words, etc. I'm even trying to play with graphics showing clusters of words.
