Was there some change to the state of the game a couple of minutes after 9? Did it start late? I thought I started the game after 9, and I found myself between SPORADIC and SPORE, gave up (missing out on sporal and words related to sporangium), and then found out that the answer was nowhere near! And my range did not encompass yesterday's word either, unless the over/under answers changed direction in the middle....

At 16 guesses I was between hydrogen and hydrogenous. Spent a couple of minutes staring and gave up. Dang.
