The 31 words surrounding joon's word range from MALLARD to MALNOURISHED. (I was wondering whether he was using a mal-prefix ;-)) There are 24 words starting with the same 4 letters. 239 MAL- words.
The 31 words surrounding Mike's word range from TOPPER to TOPWORKS. 19 words start with the same 4 letters. 125 TOP- words.
I wonder if the total number of guesses (per participant) would rise significantly across the board if either Mike or Joon began to reverse engineer the game using the type of data that Danchall is giving us? For instance, if the daily word had the greatest number of surrounding words beginning with, say, the first 4 letters. I suppose then it would come down to how "common" the word was although with this self-selecting group there may not be any such thing as "common"...

So, so bad on joon's word today. I was so focused on the first three or four letters that I was trying to use them as prefixes. Good grief.
