Surprised to see that I'm the only one of the first few guessers to guess "veteran."
Maybe it is not a great 'sorter' word.Daughter phoned in mid-solve; this has no Pause button!Verily, verily, I say unto you, there are a lot of veri- words out there...

I always feel a little crushed when I realize that a common prefix stretches before me...
Mike is more prone to this in his word selection (I feel).
WH- words always get me. What comes between "wetness" and "wiccan"? Oh yeah, a whole pile of WH- words!
651 words in the TWL between wetness and wiccan. 631 of them are "wh" words.
And I thought that was rhetorical! Thanks for the info. :)It took me 10 guesses to narrow down those 651 words.
