Welcome to the Guess My Word blog. This is a place to discuss the words of the day chosen by Joon and Mike. This paragraph is here mostly as spoiler space. Here are today's words:

mike's word: homogenous
joon's word: escutcheon

Discuss.

  1. The OAD seems to suggest that mike's word is most often encountered in modern writing as a misspelling of "homogeneous."

    1. yeah, i gave up at homogeneous/homogeny. having said that, i do know that homogenous is commonly used to mean homogeneous, and i should have thought of it.

    2. It's got an obsolete meaning of its own, at least. I also went with homogenized, which in my youth was a commonly touted attribute of bottled milk.

  3. I've seen the word i consider incorrect so often that I guessed that first. Weird.
and of course, never did get Joon's before hitting my 'too tired' limit.
I do better first thing in the morning (theoretically) but today did not go according to schedule....
