I was amazed that my last guess for Mike's word was right. I picked it because it was near the middle of my range. It seems to me that if you can pre-pend a generic prefix, once you get to that part of the wordlist the game essentially starts from scratch. There are 1643 words in the TWL starting with the same 4 letters. 25 words starting with the same 6. The 31 words surrounding Mike's word range from overpersuading to overpopulated.
The 31 words surrounding joon's word range from curving to cuspidal. There are 16 words starting with the same 4 letters, 6 starting with the same 6.
Amen! I got Mike's word out of desperation, not because I actually though of it as a word. (Although, on reflection, yeah, OK.) (Well, my real reservation was I thought it was most likely two words.)

Yeah. Most of my solve was sitting there feeling flummoxed...
